America was founded on the principle of self-government: that the American people should determine the direction of this country, free from outside control or foreign influence. Yet over time, our political system has become increasingly shaped by massive lobbying networks, special interests, and foreign-aligned organizations that pour enormous amounts of money into influencing elections, legislation, and foreign policy decisions. The result is a government that too often answers to donors, lobbyists, and international interests before it answers to the American people.

I believe in free markets, free trade, and free association. People should be free to do business, communicate, and cooperate peacefully across borders without unnecessary government interference. But elections are not the same thing as ordinary commerce. Elections determine who controls the most powerful government apparatus on Earth, which includes taxation, regulation, military action, surveillance, and the laws that affect every American citizen. Protecting the integrity and independence of that system is essential to preserving self-government.

No foreign government, foreign-funded organization, or international lobbying network should have disproportionate influence over American elections or American policy. Our leaders should be accountable to the citizens of the United States, not to outside interests seeking political leverage, military commitments, foreign aid, or economic favoritism at the expense of American taxpayers.

This principle must apply universally and consistently, regardless of the country or political alliance involved. Whether influence comes from China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Israel, multinational corporations, or any other foreign-connected entity, Americans have the right to expect that their government represents them first. Endless foreign entanglements and interventionist policies are often sustained not by the will of ordinary Americans, but by political systems built around lobbying, financial pressure, and special interests that benefit from perpetual conflict and dependency.

The Libertarian vision is one of transparency, accountability, and national independence. Americans deserve to know who is funding political campaigns, shaping legislation, and influencing foreign policy decisions behind closed doors. A government that operates openly and answers directly to its own citizens is far less likely to drag the country into unnecessary wars, debt, corruption, and international conflicts that do not serve the American people.

Free people deserve honest government. And honest government begins when American elections belong fully to Americans again.
