national defense and war
I recognize that national defense remains a top priority for millions of Americans. Freedom is valuable, and throughout history, Americans have understood that preserving it sometimes requires sacrifice and a strong national defense. However, there is a clear difference between defending our nation and maintaining a permanent state of endless foreign intervention.
Over the past several decades, our military industrial complex—along with the politicians and special interests that profit from it—has transformed America’s military mission from one of defense into one of continual global policing. Instead of focusing on protecting Americans at home, Washington has engaged in costly wars, nation-building efforts, military occupations, and interventions across the globe with little accountability and few measurable benefits to the American people.
These endless wars and overseas operations have not made Americans safer. In many cases, they have done the opposite by creating instability, increasing anti-American sentiment, and expanding the number of enemies and conflicts the United States faces around the world. Meanwhile, American taxpayers are left footing the bill for a military empire that now costs well over $1 trillion annually, despite our nation facing historic debt, inflation, and economic uncertainty at home.
The Libertarian Party is committed to restoring a defense-first approach to national security. We believe America should maintain a strong military capable of defending our country and responding decisively to direct threats, while ending unnecessary foreign wars and interventionist policies that drain lives, resources, and prosperity. As their candidate and your Congressman, I will work to end the permanent War State, reduce empire-building abroad, stop the reimplementation of the draft, and bring accountability back to U.S. foreign policy. By prioritizing peace, restraint, and true national defense, we can make Americans both safer and more financially secure for generations to come.

I believe in the grassroots, small donations from real, working people who want to bring our troops home, bring our money home, and send a big message to Washington donors: KENTUCKY ISN'T FOR SALE.
